China said it will announce new measures to boost consumption, in the government’s latest effort to steer a revival in the economy. The policies, expected to be unveiled at a press conference at 3 p.m. today, follow a slew of moves the Chinese government has made in recent weeks to revive the economy after growth momentum weakened in the second quarter. On Friday, Beijing announced a plan to boost consumer industries and grow an exchange dedicated to helping small firms get access to funds. Meanwhile, Xi Jinping has called on the military to push ahead with anti-graft efforts and speed up modernization attempts.
